Customize Your Kitchen Cabinets With These Creative Ideas
Remodeling your kitchen is an exciting time since it gives you the opportunity to make the kitchen exactly how you want it to be. This not only includes things like your appliances but also your kitchen cabinets. You don't have to go with the same design or layout you had in the past, since you can really create whatever you want. Here are a few custom cabinet ideas that you may not have thought of.
Broom Cabinet
Everyone has those tall items that tend to sit out in a kitchen because there is no good place to put them. One of those items is your broom that you use to clean up messes. There are likely a few of these tall items that need to be stored, and they can go into a very tall and thin broom cabinet.
Your broom cabinet can be installed in one of two ways. If all your cabinets are tight against the wall, then you can make a very thin and deep cabinet to hold your brooms, mops, and other tall items. If you have a tall row of cabinets that is not flush against the wall, you can actually put the broom cabinet on the end of the row of cabinets. The door will be a normal width, but the cabinet itself will be shallow to maximize your space.
Appliance Pull Out Shelf
You likely have a few large appliances that take up a lot of space on your counter, because you are tired of getting them in and out of a cabinet. This can include a large mixer, a pressure cooker, a crock pot, or even a bread machine. Rather than have these items take up precious counter space, you can mount them on a pull-out shelf in a bottom cabinet.
The way this cabinet works is that there is a swinging arm that connects to a shelf. This allows the shelf to swing outward and up so that it is flush with the countertop. You can even install a plug within the cabinet itself so that you do not even need to plug the appliance in using a countertop outlet.
Tiered Drawers
A common problem with drawers is that they are sometimes too deep or too shallow for the things that you are storing in them. Thankfully, there is a compromise to this problem by using tiered drawers. They work by having an insert shelf within the drawer that is on its own track. This allows you to place the thin items on the inset drawer, and push it back to reveal even more items. You can then have deep drawers next to it for your bigger items so that they all match and are the same size.
